President’s Message – August and September

It’s almost here! “THE GOURDFEST” is taking place at the Kiwanis Building on Hill Street, Griffin, Ga. Mark your Calendars for Saturday, September 29th and Sunday, September 30th with the set up being on Friday, the 28th of September. All entries for competition are due on Friday afternoon September 28th from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m The show opens to the public on Saturday September 29 at 8:00 AM. 

Changes for this year show are as follows:

1. No market place.
2. Make it and take it – bird houses with a minimum charge of $3.00. 
3. Vendor Dinner will be catered so no one needs to bring a dish and there will be no hospitality room this year. We will no longer need to keep the room clean and get all the left overs along with their dishes to different people.
4.Dinner for Saturday night will be catered with a charge of about $12.00 per person. The menu will be advertised.
5. Annual business meeting after the dinner with new officers to be voted on.  
6. If you would like to become a director or hold a position in the Georgia Gourd Society please notify Jane Ballou at jyb50@yahoo.com.
7. We will have the morning Coffee and the Sandwiches for lunch available along with snacks during the day and Holly Gallagher has agreed to run the kitchen. Please volunteer to help Holly as this is a big job and we all benefit from this being offered. You can contact her at hollyheathgallagher@gmail.com

As usual we need volunteers at the competition desk for the check in and at the front entrance. We also need people to guard the competition area during the show.  
All vendor spaces have been filled with Blue Whale Art and The Giraffe Laugh, along with Ghost Creek Gourds and Front Porch Gourds being our largest vendors. We also have some smaller vendors that are very creative and have beautiful work for sale.  

Please members this is your society and your show but we desperately need people to help.
