President’s Message

January, February and March, 2019
Happy New Year to all our friends that create gourd art. The Georgia Gourd Society has lots of new events coming up and we look forward to sharing with all our society members. We have three gourd teachers coming to Georgia two in June which is Vickie Echols and Robin Bryson and then at our Gourdfest on September  28th and 29th, Bonnie Gibson from Arizona Gourds will be teaching for 3 days maybe four. There will be more information on the classes offered in the near future. I am also in the process of trying to secure additional gourd artist to come and teach in the spring.
January is our time to renew membership in the society. Our members are important to the society because without them we as a society can’t secure buildings to hold classes, hold workshops for the public as well as for our members, and garden clubs. We also hold classes and make it take it classes for younger students so that the art of gourding does not die. Please renew your membership by sending a check to Janet Eakin our membership chairman, at 218 Golf Club Drive, Metter, Ga. 30439. The Georgia Gourd Society is beginning to be a well-known Chapter of the American Gourd Society throughout the United States and we are excited about this recognition. Dues are fifteen dollars and can be paid by making out checks to Georgia Gourd Society.
If you ever have questions about projects or gourd business, please contact me or (one of members). I can be reached at 770-229-5530 or ewtatum@bellsouth.net.
